For scholars, the 23 volumes (so far) of the Babasaheb Ambedkar: Writings and Speeches remain indispensable. These are being published by the Maharashtra Government. Some of these volumes (vol. 18–20) are in Marathi and the rest are in English. A few volumes are in multiple parts (vol. 14 in 2 parts; vol. 17 in 3 parts; vol. 18 in 3 parts). Navayana, a publisher based in New Delhi that focusses on ‘the issue of caste from an anticaste perspective’, has a number of useful annotated editions of Ambedkar’s works.
